TORPEDO

Maintenance & inspections

Nobody knows our technology better than we do.

As the manufacturer, we know our units down to the smallest detail. For decades, the TORPEDO name has stood for reliability and durability in the supply of technical gases:

  • vaporizer systems for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), ammonia or other gases
  • maintenance, inspection and repair of gas supply systems and propane systems
  • the inspection of your lifting equipment, also independently of vaporizer technology
  • the inspection of gas hoses

Safety comes first

In the operation of pressure equipment and LPG systems, safety has top priority. The German Ordinance on Industrial Safety and Health (BetrSichV), specified in more detail by TRBS 1201 Part 1 and Part 2 (German Technical Rules for Operational Safety), and DGUV Regulation 3 (German Social Accident Insurance) place obligations on operators.

With our maintenance and inspection service, you place these tasks in experienced hands. Our employees are competent persons (befähigte Personen) under BetrSichV for explosion protection and pressure installations. As a manufacturer certified in accordance with AD 2000-Merkblatt HP 0, we provide complete support for conversion, new construction or overhaul.

Explosion protection concept

A central element of plant safety is the explosion protection concept in the explosion protection document. It describes the measures defined on the basis of the risk assessment. We help you reliably meet its three main components:

  • avoiding or restricting hazardous explosive mixtures
  • avoiding ignition sources in the area of the installations
  • design-based explosion protection that limits the effects of an explosion to a harmless level

We explain what the hazardous area zones mean under Explosion protection.

Statutory inspections

As pressure installations and explosion-protected equipment, vaporizer and LPG systems are generally installations subject to monitoring. Their inspections are governed by BetrSichV. The system must be inspected before initial commissioning and after modifications requiring inspection. We support you in fulfilling your obligations as the operator of

  • ventilation systems and gas warning devices
  • explosion-protected equipment
  • pressure installations for all types of gas.

Our explosion protection inspection also directly provides the measurement results for the four-yearly inspection of stationary electrical equipment in accordance with DGUV Regulation 3.

The scope and intervals of inspections of pressure installations depend on nominal pressure ratings and operating pressures as well as on the corrosion behaviour resulting from the combination of material and medium. Please consider at the time of ordering how additional in-process inspections during manufacture can simplify future inspection procedures.

Our recommendation as the manufacturer

Statutory inspections secure the legal framework; our maintenance secures your production and ensures that your systems are operated in a way that preserves their value. In continuous operation, electrical parts are subject to natural wear and contact erosion. Malfunctions of control valves often go unnoticed until the system shuts down.

  • annually: maintenance of all units with visual inspection of the explosion-protected equipment
  • annually by the operator: visual inspection for corrosion and leaks
  • annually: inspection of the pressure regulators (DGUV Rule 110-010)
  • every 2 years: pressure and leak test at the test pressure stated on the nameplate (36 bar for the 25 bar pressure rating), leak test of the pipework
  • after 8 years: replace the pressure regulators (DGUV Rule 110-010)
  • after 10 years at the latest: inspect or replace the safety valves

For maintenance of our dry-type vaporizers by your own staff, we put together a suitable maintenance kit for you.
