Fienemann TORPEDO GmbH is a company in Quickborn, north of Hamburg, certified as a manufacturer of pressure equipment. Founded in Hamburg in 1906 as a welding technology business, our company has been building vaporizers since 1964. Today it specializes in vaporizer technology.
Our units have proven themselves worldwide for more than 60 years: whether supplying large quantities of propane for flame-cutting operations, engine and turbine test benches and fire simulators, or supplying ammonia to heat treatment shops and for flue gas denitrification (DeNOx).
Approvals and certifications
As a manufacturer of pressure equipment, we implement the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) by applying the AD 2000 Code. Our company is certified as a series manufacturer in accordance with AD 2000-Merkblatt HP 0 by TÜV NORD Systems GmbH & Co. KG and DEKRA Automobil GmbH. Our welding production is additionally certified to DIN EN ISO 3834-3 (quality requirements for fusion welding).

History
- 1906Roland Fienemann founded ‘Roland Fienemann Schweißtechnik’ at Rödingsmarkt in Hamburg in 1906 as a welding technology business. The TORPEDO cutting torch, developed in-house, quickly became well known and popular in the shipbuilding industry. The company specialized in welding and cutting technology and manufactured the entire range of equipment, from acetylene generators and pressure reducers to welding and cutting inserts.
- 1963The thriving company was acquired by an entrepreneur from Krefeld and renamed Roland Fienemann GmbH & Co. KG. The aim was to extend Primagas, which he had founded, to include LPG vaporizers.
- 1964The first vaporizer units were delivered. Decades of specialization and excellent knowledge of welding technology were the basis of its success in building vaporizer systems.
- 1969The company moved to new, larger premises in Pinneberg in Schleswig-Holstein.
- 1985In the mid-1980s, the first TORPEDO vaporizers for ammonia were built.
- 1994Separation from Primagas, as vaporizer construction no longer fitted its core business. The vaporizers for liquefied gases became increasingly successful, and the range of units was extended to include vaporizers for further special gases.
- 2000Renamed ‘Fienemann TORPEDO GmbH’, adopting the name of the proven and popular vaporizer units. Since then, Fienemann has stood for the welding technology division and TORPEDO for the plant engineering division.
- 2002The company grew strongly and moved to new premises in neighbouring Quickborn, its current site.
- 2012Dr. Sven Wieczorek acquired the company as part of a succession arrangement upon the previous owner’s retirement. Since then, it has been run by managing director Thilo Ediger, formerly technical manager and authorized signatory (Prokurist).
- 2015Since 2015, the customers of Elbe-Gas Anlagenbau GmbH & Co. KG have been looked after by Fienemann TORPEDO GmbH from Quickborn.
- 2025Since 2025, TORPEDO has been building LPG vaporizers on request for rDME (renewable dimethyl ether), which is produced from biomass, residues or captured CO₂ and can significantly reduce CO₂ emissions.
TORPEDO vaporizers have been in use worldwide for decades. The TORPEDO brand stands for quality in vaporizer technology, nationally and internationally.
